How Does IPL (Intense-Pulsed Light) Treatment Work?

Similar to lasers, IPL systems work on light energy which is absorbed into particular target cells with color in the skin. By turning light energy into heat energy the IPL system is able to cause damage to the targeted area. IPL differs from laser because it uses multiple wavelengths in each pulse whereas laser only uses one. Most IPL systems have the ability to customize the energy level depending on the treatment area. This enhances penetration without using excessive energy levels.

IPL treatment is non-ablative resurfacing technique, which means the treatment targets the lower portion of the skin without harming the top portion of the skin. IPL treatment has little to no downtime, which means that the patient can get back to their normal routine right after the treatment.

IPL treatment is used for spider angiomas, port wine stains, broken facial veins, rosy cheeks, rosacea, red thread veins of the legs, freckles, age marks, facial lines, wrinkles, and removal of unwanted dark hair.

How Does the 1540 Non-Ablative Fractional Laser Work?

The 1540 fractional laser utilizes fractional resurfacing technology delivering an array of high precision microbeams that penetrate the skin deep into the dermis. This creates columns of skin coagulation surrounded by healthy, untreated skin. This causes the skin the heal itself by replacing old damaged skin with new, younger, healthier skin and smoothing out any wrinkles, scars, and or pigments.

The non-ablative laser is much less invasive with minimal to no downtime when compared to ablative laser solutions. The procedure can achieve full results within three to five sessions with some mild redness and swelling for a couple days.

The 1540 non-ablative fractional laser is used for fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, scar improvement, brown spots and other undesired pigmentation, melasma, skin tightening, and overall skin quality improvement.

Laser Skin Treatment FAQs

What Is the Difference Between An Ablative And Non-Ablative Laser Treatment?

Ablative laser treatments take off the top layer of the skin for new and improved skin whereas non-ablative treatments treats the deeper of the skin without affecting the top layer of the skin. Non-ablative laser treatments have little to no downtime, pain or side effects.

What Are Fractional Lasers?

Fractionated lasers treat the skin with a laser beam that is comprised of many columns of micro-beams that are all separated by gaps. Thus, only a fraction of the skin is treated, with gaps of untreated skin throughout; this enables the skin to heal much faster with less risk of complications.

How Do Laser Skin Treatments Rejuvenate the Skin?

The laser delivers heat to deeper layers of the skin to initiate the body's natural healing process and develope collagen and elastin production. This new collagen and elastin encourages the improvement of the skin tone and texture, while also helping to smoothen the skin.

How Many Treatments Do I Need?

For optimal results three to five treatments spaced out between two to four weeks is recommended.

What Should I Avoid After Laser Treatment?

Avoid direct sunlight or extreme cold on the treated area. The application of sunscreen is recommended.
